The Retreat is a fine example of a character 'Chocolate Box' thatched cottage, presented to a high standard.
The cottage itself lies in a superb semi-rural position on the edge of the village Lytchett Matravers offering awe inspiring views across the beautiful Purbeck countryside.
The village of Lytchett Matravers offers an excellent position from which to easily explore the many prized beaches and outstanding countryside the area is renowned for. Sweeping chalk downlands, meandering river valleys, dramatic cliff faces, traditional English woodlands and sun warmed heathlands offer a variety of walks for both enthusiastic ramblers and those seeking a quiet stroll. Not to mention the sailing, windsurfing, diving, horse riding and cycling, more great ways to really experience the beautiful landscape.
This cosy country cottage has a large garden ideal for catching the evening sun with a winter born stream trickling through and nothing but fields surrounding the cottage grounds along with a large drive with ample parking.
Altogether The Retreat offers exceptional accomodation for families of all ages and all interests.
The first room to welcome you to The Retreat is the Entrance hall with a traditional Purbeck stone paved floor.
The newly fitted kitchen has everything you need, a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, hob, kettle and most importantly tea, coffee and biscuits.
The lounge and dining room houses a heavy oak table to seat six, two double leather sofas, TV, DVD and CD player perfect to set that ambient mood. The lounge door opens out onto the garden, breathe in the fresh air and take in the fabulous views.
There is also a downstairs toilet, with a traditional sewing machine basin!
The first floor has two bedrooms, a double room which boasts the best views in the house, miles of open fields, Purbeck hills and Corfe Castle. With a king-size duvet on a double bed it is more than cosy.
The second bedroom has two single beds, all the rooms in the house have old teak ship beams which were found diving, by the host of The Retreat himself.
Both bedrooms have an en-suite, one with a bath and the other has a shower.
Sorry no children under 5 due to spiral staircase, also no smoking or pets for hygiene reasons. Thank you. |
