Romantic 16th Century harbourside cottages, Harbours Reach and Chaipel Steps are both Grade II Listed with many original features including log burners, beams, exposed stone walls, hand polished planked floors and exposed original 400 year old crux roof timbers. Also offering private roof gardens with barbeque areas.
Nestling at the foot of the cliffs, adjacent to the harbour lies Chaipel Steps Cottage, reputedly one of the oldest cottages in the village. You will be spoilt by the stunning views of the boats in the inner harbour and charmed by the crooked streets of Polperro.
Polperro hardly needs description, considered to be the jewel of the South Coast. No Cornish village has been painted or photgraphed so often, yet on every visit guests find that the place excels its picture. The artists here have worked from every angle, but the old fishing village still holds its element of surprise. Many of the buildings date from the 16th & 17th Centuries. Polperro was heavily involved in smuggling in the 18th Century, with the majority of the village's inhabitants participating in one way or another, be it shipping, storing or transporting. There is now a Smugglers Museum by the harbour to look around and find out more about their mischievous antics! To the side of Chaipel Steps cottage you will find slate steps which lead upto Chaipel Cliff, where once stood the 14th Century Chapel of St. Peter, and additionally access to the south west coastal path.
Cut into the rocks, Chaipel Steps is a stone cottage, directly looking out onto the harbour, with beamed ceilings, planked floors and an old French log burner. Outside, relax in your own private roof garden where you can enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the sound of the lapping waters as the sun sets. Chaipel Steps cottage offers a spacious living room and a luxurious sofabed that opens out to a full size double bed. It also enjoys a fitted hand made kitchen, with built in hob & oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and microwave. A large light and airy double bedroom includes a Victorian style double bed luxury mattress and co-ordinated soft furnishings.
This property offers 1 double, shower room with wc, lounge with sprung sofa bed, kitchen/diner, private garden, private village centre parking.
Pets £20 per week payable with balance.
